SKETCHING TOUR "JZP"

Why "JZP"? Maybe it is because not even expats in Prague dare to pronounce the name of the Czech king Jiri z Podebrad - who’s 600 years anniversary we celebrate this year. But most importantly, he remains the symbol of pragmatic diplomacy, peace and tolerance during the turbulent years of religious wars in the country. Already in the 15th century he had the idea of an organization similar to the UN today!

STARTING POINT

Your tour will start with a local café warm-up meeting right in the heart of Prague, the best way how to dive into the Czech culture system.

AREAS COVERED

Old Town Square incl. the Old Town Hall (interiors with lookout tower optional, entry fee 250 CZK). The sketch walk will begin in one of the oldest Prague romanesque undergrounds and continue through the oldest city streets to gothic, renaissance, baroque and art nouveau style sights. But it will not only be about the main sights, of equal importance will be the hidden elements on the way such as interesting doorways, house signs and sculptures – all this is what makes the cities charm and magic! Then you will switch from the old days feeling to modern via a Metro/underground ride to the very popular Vinohrady district, Jiriho z Podebrad Squre, built around the turn of the 19th and 20th century (ticket price 24 CZK).

END POINT

Jiřího z Poděbrad square with the unique Church of the Most Sacred Heart of our Lord.

OPTIONAL extra hour(s) exploring the nearby Žižkov TV Tower and former Jewish cemetery or Grébovka park and vineyard.
